Corrosion resistant

The high nickel content in 600 alloy provides excellent resistance to moderately reduced corrosion conditions。The nickel composition in the alloy makes the alloy have very strong resistance to chloride stress fission corrosion。Alloy 600 is an alloy used in magnesium chloride solution。

Similarly, the chromium component in 600 alloy provides corrosion resistance in the weaker oxidation environment。In this respect, 600 alloy is an improvement over 200 alloy。The corrosion resistance of 600 alloy is poor in strong oxidation solution such as concentrated hot nitric acid。

Alloy 600 is relatively resistant to most neutral and saline solutions and is therefore used in some corrosive environments。

Cold forming
