Nickel alloy sheet

Suntek Iron & Steel has a stock of 400 alloy in annealed condition, thickness 3/16" to 3"。 400 alloy has low strength in the annealed state, so it exhibits a higher degree of strength in the rolled state。Stock rolled 400 alloy thickness range from 3/16" to 3"。

UNS N04400 400 alloy is a copper-nickel alloy with good ductility and corrosion resistance。 Alloy 400 is widely used in oxidized, neutral and reduced environments. It is also used in underwater environments and non-oxygenated chloride solutions。

The 400 alloy has lower strength under annealing than pure nickel metal, so Sandmeyer Steel can provide A400 in a quasi-rolled state.

Alloy 400 (UNS N004400) specification details

Alloy 400 is a nickel based alloy that can withstand a variety of corrosive environments

Regular feature

UNS N04400 is a soft copper-nickel alloy that is resistant to a variety of corrosive environments。The alloy is often cited for use in mild oxidation, neutral, and gradually weakened environments。Another application is in the Marine environment and other non-oxidized chloride solutions。

The alloy has a long history as a corrosion resistant material, dating back to the 20th century。At that time, it was attempted to be used as a nickel metal with a high copper content。 The metal, which contains approximately equal amounts of nickel and copper, is now officially specified as a condition for the production of the alloy。

As pure nickel for commercial use, 400 alloy has low strength under annealing conditions. For this reason, various tempering methods have to be used to increase the strength of the material。

Corrosion resistant

Alloy 400 is more resistant to corrosion under attenuating conditions than commercially available pure nickel (UNS N02200) and more resistant to corrosion under oxidizing conditions than refined copper alloys。 Alloy 400 May be considered in suitably weakened acid, neutral or alkaline solutions。The alloy is resistant to most alkali, salt, organic matter and atmospheric conditions。Although overcorrosion stress fission occurs at high temperature, high stress, and high corrosion concentration, alloy 400 can be considered for use in colder alkaline corrosion conditions。 The alloy is used in the presence of weak acids such as sulfur and hydrogen chloride, especially in the absence of ventilation and oxides。

400 alloy is especially resistant to chloride stress fission corrosion。 Its main application environment is all kinds of water including seawater and salt water。

400合金在含硫气体超过华氏700度(摄氏371度)时遭受侵蚀;当融化硫酸超过大约华氏500度(摄氏260度)时可以对400合金造成侵蚀。

Heat treatment

The entire annealing process for 400 alloys is performed within a short period of time in the typical temperature range of 1400 ° F to 1800 ° F (760-980 ° C)。The purpose of doing so

Is to soften the material after forging molding to keep the material relatively fine particles。 Annealing should be carried out in an atmosphere as free of sulphur as possible due to sulphur

Material embrittlement can be caused by increasing exposure time within the annealing temperature range。Low temperature stress relief can be applied to cold-deformed materials by heating them to approximately 575 degrees Fahrenheit (300 degrees Celsius) for one to three hours。

Most 400 alloys are not subjected to final heat treatment to increase their strength before they are put into use。

Cold forming

Alloy 400 shows excellent cold forming properties usually associated with nickel-chromium stainless steels。Compared with 301 or 304 alloy, the alloy has a lower work hardening ratio, which can be used in many kinds of drawing processing, in this process, the temper gap will appear relatively large deformation phenomenon。

焊接

Alloy 400 can be welded using a variety of procedures, including gas-tungsten arc, gas-metal arc welding, and shielded gas-metal arc welding。Before performing all of these operations, the area to be welded must be cleaned to avoid material embrittlement by substances such as lubricants and paints。Materials must be kept clean for best welding。

The welding procedure for alloy 400 is similar to that for austenitic stainless steel, neither preheating nor post-welding heat treatment is required。The welding design is similar to that of austenitic stainless steel, with two exceptions。First: the nature of the metal welding solution needs to be adjusted so that the interface part is fully open and can accommodate the whole filler wire to fill the joint。Second: high heat conduction and material purity make welding penetration lower than austenitic stainless steel。
